Star Song, by Bradley Ellingboe
Season 56 - Manchester Choral Society and Orchestra - Dan Perkins, conductor
Michael Dodge, tenor
2GMCS, Krystal Morin, director
The poets of the Age of Enlightenment wrote about the “music of the spheres,” an idea that the moons revolve around the planets and the planets wheel around the stars and everything works together in perfect harmony. What of we could hear that harmony? Ellingboe’s Star Song explores this theme including poetry by Carl Sagan, Rainer Maria Rilke, John Milton, Hildegard von Bingen, Vincent van Gogh, and Walt Whitman, We are joined by tenor Michael Dodge (recent Peabody Conservatory graduate), 2GMCS (second generation MCS youth chorus), and the MCS Chamber Orchestra to complete our holiday celebration!
